The US Senate has confirmed William Burns as director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
U.S. President Joe Biden suggested him for the post. Burns’ candidacy was approved unanimously. He will be sworn in shortly.
Burns ended his diplomatic career in 2014. He served in the U.S. State Department for 33 years. From 2005 to 2008, he served as US ambassador to the Russian Federation. In a recent interview, Burns said he “went gray because of Russia.
