All submarines of the Black Sea Fleet have been put on alert, which has become a precedent not only in Russia, but also in the world
The decision was made against the background of NATO exercises Sea Shield 2021. The maneuvers will take place in the waters of the Black Sea from March 19-29 with participation of 2,400 servicemen from Bulgaria, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, the US and Turkey, as well as 18 warships and 10 aircraft.
According to Vice Admiral Igor Osipov, commander of the Black Sea Fleet, all submarines are now carrying out their assigned tasks outside their base locations.
“This is an unprecedented case, which does not exist in the fleets of the Russian Federation or in those of foreign countries”, – RIA Novosti quoted Anatoly Vachorkin, a senior officer of the BSF submarine brigade of the 1st rank, as saying.
