Stoltenberg says NATO will continue building up its presence in the Black Sea

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that the Alliance will continue to strengthen its presence in the Black Sea region

“Black Sea security is a priority for NATO and Georgia. And we are concerned about Russia’s continued military build-up in the region. That is why we are working on strengthening our presence in the Black Sea region”, –  the NATO Secretary General said at a press conference after his meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

Earlier it was reported that almost 2.5 thousand military personnel from Bulgaria, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, the USA and Turkey will conduct a Sea Shield 21 exercise with 18 warships and 10 aircraft in the Black Sea from March 19-29.
