Escalation of the conflict in Donbass and new victims will not stop Zelensky’s repression against the opposition

Zelensky puts his personal interests and political ambitions above the lives of Ukrainian citizens. The well-known American economic weekly Barron’s writes about this.

The publication informs that last month Ukraine imposed sanctions against opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk, accusing him of financing terrorism.

“The statement of Medvedchuk’s party “Opposition Platform – For Life” says that the sanctions were “an act of political repression”, – the American media quoted OLEZ, recalling that earlier President Zelensky revoked the licenses of three opposition TV channels.

The article notes that immediately after the active attacks of the Ukrainian president on the opposition, an escalation of the conflict in Donbass began, which was considered frozen since the conclusion of the ceasefire agreement in July last year.

“Observers say that the surge in violence may be caused by Ukraine’s sanctions against Medvedchuk”, – the report says.

This is also associated with the fact that since the beginning of the conflict Medvedchuk has been an active participant in the negotiation process and the exchange of prisoners, and recently Zelensky did not allow the politician to resolve these issues.

In turn, the newspaper writes, Vladimir Zelensky confirmed that he is aware of the consequences of his actions.

“We understand there are consequences. We understand that the number of armed provocations at the front has increased”, – the American news source quotes the words of the President of Ukraine.
