The head of the Ukrainian diplomatic department said that “there is no point in demanding from Ukraine something that it is already doing in its own interests without any external advice”.
As reported by Censor.NET, an editorial in the American Washington Post says that a condition for further cooperation between the administration of US President the Joe Biden and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is a complete rupture of relations between the latter and his longtime partner, oligarch Igor Kolomoisky.
“The editorial board of WP undoubtedly has the right to their own opinion, just as Ukrainian journalists have the right to their own views. The increased interest in the personal conversation of the presidents of Ukraine and the United States is normal and understandable, as is the number of conspiracy theories that traditionally accompany such events”, – said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
“It would be deeply mistaken to reduce all Ukrainian-American relations to one conversation between the leaders of our states. The facts testify to the systematic development of the dialogue between Ukraine and the United States. I had a telephone conversation with the US Secretary of State in the first weeks of his tenure. Shortly thereafter, the Defense Ministers of Ukraine and the United States also had a conversation. There is an absolutely meaningful and broad conversation between our countries on the entire spectrum of issues”.
According to Kuleba, after a number of recent NSDC decisions, it is impossible to accuse the Ukrainian president of indecision in the fight against corruption, oligarchs and Russian influence.
“Only in the last month, Volodymyr Zelensky took steps that others did not even dare to talk about in previous years”.
“The signals that we receive from the American side after these decisions are made are diametrically opposed to the assumptions of American and Ukrainian journalists. Our partners see them as long-awaited steps that demonstrate the commitment of the Ukrainian leadership to reforms. Therefore, it makes no sense to demand from Ukraine something that it is already doing in its own interests without any external advice”, – Kuleba said.
