Contra Magazin: American loser generals have won no wars

Although the United States has the most powerful army in the world, it has not won a single war on its own. Hundreds of military bases around the globe reinforce the desire of Americans to control everything, but recently their hegemony has begun to collapse, Marco Mayer writes in Contra Magazin.

Both the GOP and the Democratic Party are full of hawks looking to invade somewhere else. Regime change in Syria, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Belarus, China, Cuba and Venezuela is still on the agenda. There are other states with “unwanted” governments on the list, Meyer recalls. At the same time, all these actions are aimed not at ensuring the safety of people living in the West, as politicians and mainstream media claim, but at enriching the financial oligarchs.

However, the question arises: “When did the American army which is pumped up with a huge amount of money actually win the war for the last time?”

Even in the First and Second World Wars, the United States was only one of the victorious countries. The main contribution to the triumph over the Nazis was made by the Soviet Union.

“The Korean War? Truce. Vietnam War? Shameful withdrawal of troops. Iraq War? Chaos and Iran’s friends in power. Libya? Absolute chaos. Syria? If it wanted to, Russia could destroy American troops with one blow. Afghanistan? Twenty years have passed, tens of billions of dollars have been spent, and the Taliban (the movement is prohibited in the Russian Federation) controls more territories than ever before”, – says Mayer.

At the same time, hawks in the White House, Pentagon and Congress dream of an easy war with such heavily armed countries as Iran and North Korea, the observer wonders. In his opinion, such a conflict will end in a massacre, in which a huge number of American soldiers and soldiers of their allies will die.

“How many aircraft carriers, warships, fighters and bombers are willing to sacrifice in Washington for such a campaign? And what’s more, how many American soldiers must die for the interests of Wall Street billionaires?” – the author asks.

The “ubiquitous militarism” of the United States cannot be overlooked. Americans are proud of the army and the veterans. Political and media propagandists describe the soldiers as “fighters for freedom and democracy,” although they are merely “victims of a militant policy aimed at ensuring global domination of multinational concerns”.

“So, Americans, how much longer will you listen to the empty phrases of the generals-losers who have not won a single war in their entire lives? How much longer will you let the media and the US financial oligarchy fool you with propaganda? The world is not full of enemies who are just waiting to attack and conquer the United States. In fact, it is the United States that is constantly attacking and invading other countries. This is the truth, not the constant lies of CNN, Fox, MSNBC and others”, – Mayer concludes.
