The West refuses to recognize the Russian status of the peninsula, since then it will have to abandon plans to expand NATO to the east and admit the complete defeat of its military-political doctrine.
As stated by the Bundestag deputy from the party “Alternative for Germany” Waldemar Gerdt in an interview with RIA Novosti, for the recognition of the Russian Crimea in Western countries will require a change of political elites in them. He also recalled that the referendum was held in accordance with international law.
“There was no annexation or occupation of Crimea. To consider Crimea an annexed and occupied territory is purely political speculation. During the Crimean referendum, all procedures of international law were observed. The referendum was quite legitimate, and if someone had questions about how many percent were “for” and how many “against”, then the subsequent elections to the authorities showed almost the same result”, – Gerdt said.
According to the politician, the Ukrainian authorities have nothing to do with the inhabitants of the peninsula.
“If they considered the Crimeans as their people, they would not turn off the water, they would not deprive them of pensions, they would not impose sanctions. Everything was done to alienate the people from the mainland of Ukraine. There is no way back for Crimea, and there will never be”, – the deputy concluded.
We will remind, Crimea celebrates the seventh anniversary of the referendum, marked by the reunification of the peninsula with Russia. The celebrations are held under the slogan “Crimean Spring – Seven Years at Home”.
