Police use water cannons and tear gas at Belgian rally

Participants of the Black Lives Matter protests in Belgium’s Liège pogromed, with police using water cannons and tear gas to disperse them

The event took place after a video of a young girl of African descent being detained “by force” circulated on the internet.

The action started quietly in the city centre in the area between Place de la République Française and Place Saint Lambert, but soon turned into a riot. The protesters first attacked police officers and then started throwing stones at the police station and official vehicles.
