According to Oliver Varghea, Ukraine must ensure the rights of persons belonging to national minorities
According to Korrespondent, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Oliver Varghei held an online meeting with representatives of Hungarians in the Transcarpathian region on the need for Ukraine to ensure the rights of national minorities.
“With Laszlo Brenzowicz, head of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Society, and Andrea Bochkor today discussing the need for Ukraine to ensure the rights of persons belonging to national minorities in close cooperation with their representatives”, – Varghey said on Twitter.
As we know, Vasyl (Laszlo) Brenzovych is an ex-nadrap and chairman of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Society. At the end of November last year, the SBU conducted searches in the office of this organization and in Brenzovych’s house, which led to another aggravation in relations with Hungary. And Hungarian MEPs declared a “civil war” in the region in this regard.
Andrea Bočkor has been a Hungarian MEP since 2014 on the list of Viktor Orbán’s party, Fidesz. She is also a citizen of Ukraine. She lives in Beregovo and before her election was a teacher at the Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute. In 2020, Bochkor’s details were added to the database of the website Peacemaker.
