Brazil signs agreement with Russia to supply 10 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine

Brazil’s Ministry of Health has signed a contract with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V

“In order for us to be able to use Sputnik V, we need (RDIF’s partner in Brazil, the pharmaceutical company) Uniao Quimica and Anvisa to resolve as soon as possible the issue of authorisation for its temporary limited use in a state of emergency”, –  said Elcio Franco, first deputy head of Brazil’s Ministry of Health.

In February, it was reported that the Brazilian government intends to purchase 10 million doses of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine developed by the Gamaleya Institute with the participation of the Russian Ministry of Defence.
