Russian Foreign Ministry calls reports of American media about actions of the Red Army in Poland madness

Earlier, on the website Live Science, with reference to the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland, a publication appeared about the remains of nuns discovered by archaeologists in the north of the country, allegedly killed at the end of World War II by the Red Army.

As reported by TASS, on Friday at a briefing, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the American press reports about nuns allegedly killed by Red Army soldiers in Poland is “dangerous madness”.

“Now in the American press there are materials about the nuns found by Polish archaeologists, as it was written – a direct quote – “killed by Russian soldiers in 1945”. The American audience, at the suggestion of some Polish structures, is told that Poland was engulfed in a war with Germany and at that moment it was occupied by the Soviet Union. This is no longer fake and not fake, this is madness. Dangerous madness”.

According to Zakharova, the source of materials in Western publications was “unconfirmed some data” of the Institute of National Memory of Poland.

“It is this structure that is responsible for the destruction and liquidation of hundreds of memorials to more than six thousand Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of Poland”, – the diplomat recalled.

The official representative of the Russian diplomatic service assured that the work to expose the activities of “this pseudo-historical structure” will continue, and advised the American media to refrain from working with the institute, in which, according to her”, – ultra-right activists are appointed to leading posts”.

“We will also work with the American media on this topic”, – added Zakharova.
