European Parliament declares European Union a “zone of LGBTIQ freedom”

In response to the policies of individual EU countries towards the LGBT community, in particular Poland and Hungary, MEPs adopted a resolution declaring the EU a “zone of freedom for LGBTIQ people”.

492 deputies voted “for” the adoption of the resolution, 141 deputies voted “against”. 46 deputies abstained.

According to the resolution, the LGBT community throughout the EU has the right to publicly demonstrate their sexual orientation and gender identity without fear of intolerance, discrimination or harassment. And the authorities must protect and promote LGBT equality along with the traditional community.
