Twitter representatives expressed concern about “attempts to limit public discussion”. This is said in the company’s statement published in the Associated Press.
Earlier it became known that Roskomnadzor slowed down the traffic of photo and video content on the Twitter social network. The restrictive measures were based on more than 3 thousand materials containing prohibited information, which Twitter refuses to delete.
“This number includes such categories of prohibited information as materials with a pornographic image of minors; materials containing information on methods of committing suicides; direct calls to commit suicide of minors”, – Vadim Subbotin, deputy head of Roskomnadzor, said.
Also, the social network does not delete information about the use and manufacture of narcotic substances, psychotropic substances and precursors. Subbotin stressed that when choosing a mechanism to influence Twitter, “Roskomnadzor proceeded from the goal of minimizing the inconvenience for users of the social network”.
The Twitter administration expressed concern about “attempts to limit public discussion” and did not agree with Roskomnadzor’s claims that the propaganda of illegal behavior is not blocked on the social network.
“The Twitter company, infamous for blocking the account of the current US president, and then many other accounts, suddenly “became concerned about attempts to limit public discussion on the network”. Do they [Twitter administration] call child suicide or information about drugs “public discussion”? Let these liberal guardians not pin their own sins on others, but rather deal with their own ones”, – Senator Alexei Pushkov commented on the reaction of the social network.
