NATO instructors trained thousands of Ukrainian soldiers for urban combat

The Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Oleksandr Sirsky, said that since 2015, NATO has prepared about 16 thousand Ukrainian military personnel to conduct battles in urban settings.

Sirsky noted that in total, in the period from 2015 to 2020, instructors of international training missions trained almost 20 thousand Ukrainian military personnel. Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Ruslan Khomchak, announced the preparation for the conduct of hostilities in urban conditions.

The situation on the demarcation line in Donbass has worsened significantly in February of this year: Ukrainian punitive forces are pulling military equipment and weapons to the front line, and every day they fire mortars and grenade launchers at the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. Experts believe that Kiev is preparing for a large-scale offensive.
