EU bans export of vaccines – blacklisted by US, Canada and Britain

The EU leadership is extending restrictions on the export of vaccines against coronavirus infection from the Commonwealth countries until the end of June 2021.

As previously reported by News Front, the ban was introduced in January as the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca admitted that it was unable to meet the needs within the block on time.

Initially, it was understood that the restrictions would be lifted at the end of March, but their actions were extended for another 3 months. So, until the end of June, the EU customs authorities will block the export of vaccines against COVID-19 to about 100 countries. Among them are Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The restrictions do not apply only to the poor countries included in the international COVAX program, as well as to close partners of the EU, such as Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Lebanon, Israel, as well as the countries of North Africa.
