Estonian Defense Minister Kalle Laanet says the number of teenagers willing to fight in case Russia attacks the country is growing, RT reports
Laanet says the number of teenagers in Estonia, who are ready to offer armed resistance in case the country is attacked, has significantly increased. This is confirmed by results of the opinion polls: in comparison to last year’s figures increased from 54% to 63%.
Experts believe that the reason for this growth is the spread of Russophobia on Estonian territory and the constant intimidation of citizens with the “threat from the East”. This is what allows for regular increases in military spending.
“There are elements of insanity in what is happening in Estonia. By using Russophobia and squeezing out an alternative view of Russia, the Estonian leadership is distracting people from their internal problems. And now, if we believe the results of opinion polls, the younger generation perceives Russia as an enemy, and patriotism is understood primarily as the fight against the eastern neighbour”, – commented Leonid Vardomsky, head of the Center for Post-Soviet Studies of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, on the results of the survey.
