AstraZeneca vaccination suspended in Austria after woman dies

As a precautionary measure, Austrian authorities have temporarily halted the use of AstraZeneca vaccine parenteral following the death of one vaccinated woman

This has been announced by the country’s Federal Office for Health Safety (BASG).

A 49-year-old woman who had been vaccinated against the coronavirus has died as a result of severe blood clotting disorders, the BASG press office has said. Another patient, aged 35, developed a pulmonary embolism and is being treated.
Both women were vaccinated with AstraZeneca from the same batch at the clinic in Cvetla. An investigation is currently underway. For safety reasons, the Austrian authorities decided not to use the rest of the vaccine batch.
