The head of the country’s State Customs Service, Pavel Ryabikin, said that in 2020 Ukraine lost about 100 billion hryvnia (about $3.57 billion) in taxes and duties at customs due to corruption.
“I think that in the shadow sectors, in gray and black, I think we can get about 100 billion hryvnias of customs payments to the country’s budget a year”, – Ryabikin said.
He noted that about 200 thousand out of 217.5 thousand companies that are engaged in foreign economic activity in Ukraine are in the shadow segment.
According to Ryabikin, in order to reduce corruption at customs, it is necessary to automate the processes as much as possible and reduce the direct participation of a person in the inspection of goods.
