Dangerously low vaccination rates in Ukraine could lead to disaster: expert

Academician, Chairman of the Commission on Biosafety and Biological Protection at the National Security and Defense Council Serhiy Komissarenko said that Ukraine needs to vaccinate at least about 100 thousand people a day in order to overcome the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Komissarenko noted that by the end of 2021 it is necessary to immunize 30 million people and if this is not done, then “it will be very bad”. He stressed that variants of the virus that are less sensitive to existing vaccines are becoming more common. In the absence of a sufficient rate of vaccination, the coronavirus may become generally insensitive to vaccines.

“All countries of the world are trying to make every effort to vaccinate their population. And it is very strange that our medicine does not plan this. We need to vaccinate 30 million people by the end of the year, we need to convince people that the vaccine is the only way to develop herd immunity, that this is the only way to fight infection, preserve health and life. To do this, we have to immunize 100 thousand people every day”, – the expert said.

According to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, vaccination of the population is depressingly slow: an average of about 800 people a day. On the first day of vaccination in Ukraine, 159 people were vaccinated. For example, in South Korea, 18,000 people received vaccines on the first day. One of the main reasons for such a slow rate of immunization in Ukraine is the lack of confidence in the drug used. Kiev purchased the Indian vaccine for the “third countries” Covishield.

According to political expert Anatoly Wasserman, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his team “are conducting an experiment on the inhabitants of the country, using them as animals to test the Indian vaccine.
