Biden intends to update military force policy

The US President Joe Biden plans to rethink his overseas strike policy. This was announced by the press secretary of the White House Jen Psaki during a briefing.

“Biden agrees that the authority to use military force has been in place for 20 years and is long overdue to renew it”, – Psaki said.

Under the US Constitution, only Congress has the authority to declare war, but laws that were passed later allow the President to order the use of military force overseas by notifying Congress. Special powers to carry out military strikes abroad were transferred to the US President after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York.
