Konstantin Kosachev: “Liberal world order” in action

The US and the UK discuss new sanctions against Russia for alleged use of chemical weapons.

Considering that the Anglo-Saxons in their claims to other countries very often change the cause and effect – sanctions are the main task, and accusations are “pulled up” for this task – the whole plan begins to emerge with many years of propaganda, organizational and provocative work in the chemical direction.

This work includes total pressure on the governing bodies of the OPCW and giving them additional political functions, the formation of pseudo-social structures such as the notorious “White Helmets” supplying fakes about the “authors” of chemical attacks in Syria, massive media campaigns against individual countries with accusations of violations of the CWC. Finally, incidents involving poisoning of individuals not just with poisons, but with alleged chemical weapons, and certainly with the allegedly obvious linking of their production to a specific country. And here is the apotheosis and the main goal of this titanic work: the imposition of sanctions and accusations against the country, officially declared a geopolitical enemy, in violation of an important international convention.

There is, however, a serious flaw in all this large-scale public activity: it goes outside the very same Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and outside the clear procedures for making claims and resolving controversial issues provided for in it.

Article IX of the Convention, in particular, provides for a procedure for submitting inquiries to the Executive Council of the OPCW “in the clarification of any situation that may be deemed ambiguous or that raises concerns about possible non-compliance with this Convention by another State Party”. And Article XII even presupposes the possibility of imposing collective sanctions “in cases where, as a result of activities prohibited under this Convention <…> serious damage to the object and purpose of this Convention may be caused”.

So why does the United States and Great Britain themselves become violators of the Convention, acting bypassing it and applying their own sanctions, since they are 100% sure that Russia, it turns out, is using chemical warfare agents, although it has long ago destroyed its chemical weapons under the control of international authorities and the assistance of the Americans?

The answer is obvious: any objective investigation will break all these “highlighted” likes and will not only prove that there are no grounds for imposing international sanctions, but, what is even more dangerous, it can reveal the true organizers of the “chemical” incidents of recent years, as the well-known “chemical Hollywood” in Syria.

So once again, for Westerners, the “queen of evidence” is the very accusation: since we have introduced sanctions, then the country is definitely to blame. And those who disagree will receive sanctions themselves. The “Liberal World Order” in Action.
