Britain designs combat boats for the Ukrainian navy

The Ukrainian “mosquito fleet” will soon receive replenishment in the form of small boats, which, judging by their characteristics, are clearly inspired by the famous Cossack “seagulls”. Which is very relevant for today’s Ukraine, and most importantly, very “modern”.

As reported in a REGNUM note, yesterday in an interview with The Day newspaper, the Defense Attaché of the British Embassy in Ukraine, Tim Woods, said that within the framework of a memorandum signed between the two countries, which provides for the re-equipment of the Ukrainian Navy, new missile boats will be designed in the UK. for the Ukrainian fleet.

“These missile boats are designed specifically for Ukraine, so they will be original and will have a length of approximately 50 to 65 meters, which will provide a speed of 40 knots. And it is planned to install artillery systems and missiles on them. It depends, among other things, on what kind of missiles are needed. And these can be short- or long-range missiles. This is the issue that British companies are considering right now”, – Woods said.

According to the attaché, the British will make the first two boats themselves, and the second two will be commissioned by Ukrainian shipbuilders, who will first undergo an internship in Britain in order to avoid possible incidents in the future. The construction of the first of the four boats is scheduled to begin next year 2022.
