The West has deployed large-scale support for the Russian non-systemic opposition, turning a blind eye to its own internal political problems, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
“Unfortunately, many EU countries are demonstrating a game of adherence to principles. This applies to many issues. Relations with Russia, the inability and impossibility under pressure from the United States to defend their principles, this also applies to human rights issues, when in relation to our non-systemic opposition they launched a whole arsenal of argumentation and opportunities for support and politics, and information – everything. You see, there is an offensive“, – Zakharova said on the air of the Moscow speaking radio channel.
According to her, the EU turns a blind eye to its internal problems.
“Its internal, much more complex problems – say, France – and yellow vests, and the problems of the founder of WikiLeaks Julian Assange, who is not only a problem of Britain and the United States, it is a European problem, it was a problem of the European Union for a long time, and he was on territory of Britain and was subjected to psychological and pressure and blackmail. They do not see it, they do not want to notice it”, – said the diplomat. She noted that in the EU countries there are “many examples” of political, criminal prosecution of both current politicians and those who have left power.
The Russian opposition, which supports sanctions against Russia, are not democrats, but agents of influence, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
“If people, forces are supported from abroad, are financed from abroad, pursue a policy that is beneficial to foreign countries, if they oppose national interests in favor of the interests of foreign countries – what kind of liberal democratic forces are they? A real high rank. This is called in a completely different way. They are agents of influence. They pursue the interests of other countries on the territory of our country”, – Zakharova said.
She stressed that democracy does not mean the ability to influence the internal agenda from the outside, democracy means the possibility of a political process within the country, lobbying the interests within the country, the peoples of the country of a sovereign state.
