Croatia requests data on Sputnik V vaccine from the Russian Federation

Croatia has asked Russia for data on the Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus, after checking which the country’s authorities will be ready to order the drug, Croatian Prime Minister Andrei Plenkovic said during a government meeting.

“The Russian authorities have requested additional documentation on the Sputnik V vaccine, so that we can be sure of the effectiveness and reliability of the vaccine, after which we can make a decision on further steps in accordance with the recommendations of HALMED (state regulator – ed.) And the EU medical agency (EMA), which also began the verification procedure. We are more than ready to order it”, – RIA Novosti quoted the politician as saying.

In August, the Russian Ministry of Health registered the world’s first vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19, developed by the Gamaleya Center and produced in conjunction with the Russian Direct Investment Fund. The vaccine “Gam-Covid-Vac” has the trade name “Sputnik V”.

The drug is created on the platform of human adenoviral vectors and involves the introduction of two components with an interval of three weeks. The main advantage is efficiency and the absence of long-term negative consequences. Human adenovirus-based drugs have been in widespread use for over 50 years.

On February 2, The Lancet published the results of the third phase of clinical trials of the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine. Experts found that the effectiveness of the drug is extremely high and amounts to 91.6%.

The Sputnik V vaccine has already been registered in more than 40 countries of the world, including Russia, Belarus, Argentina, Serbia, Hungary, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Guinea and others.
