Anti-Russian platitudes: Pushkov criticised Biden’s speech at Munich conference

According to Senator Alexei Pushkov, US President Joe Biden’s speech at the virtual Munich conference consisted of “generalities and anti-Russian platitudes”

In mid-February, US President Joe Biden made his first foreign policy speech at the virtual Munich Security Conference 2021. The American leader said that “America is back” and accused Russia of trying to undermine EU and NATO unity.
Political analyst Aleksandr Morozov compared Biden’s speech to Winston Churchill’s “Fulton speech”. However, in the opinion of Russian politician Senator Alexei Pushkov, the US President’s speech is inappropriate to compare with Churchill’s “Fulton speech”.

“Churchill’s speech ushered in a new phase in relations between the West and the East and in global politics: that of the Cold War. Biden did not open anything new, but only introduced an additional ideological element into US foreign policy. Sanctions against Russia were coordinated by the US with the EU even under Obama. Within NATO, the US and Europe acted together under Trump as well. There was nothing qualitatively new in Biden’s speech, except for the “America is back!” slogan repeated several times,” Pushkov wrote in his Telegram channel.
