According to TASS, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Hendrik Dams has expressed interest in long-term cooperation with Russia.
“As PACE President, I look forward to many years of cooperation and solidarity with the Russian Federation and its citizens”, – the PACE Speaker said in a video message he made on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Russian Federation’s accession to the Council of Europe, noting that “parliamentary diplomacy is a cornerstone in cooperation around common interests and values”.
“In the true spirit of parliamentary dialogue, Russia’s participation in the work of our assembly is based on respect for equality and diversity, constructive criticism and concern for the safety and well-being of citizens”.
Dams called the assembly “the most important pan-European platform for political dialogue”.
“This is an important day for Russian citizens and the Council of Europe. Joining the common European home, the Russian Federation, like all private traders, has undertaken to develop the fundamental principles and values that make up modern European architecture”, – the MEP noted.
“Only by working together, without double standards, we can find a lasting solution to the growing calls us”.
