US plans to create “gender neutral” departments of children’s toys

California lawmakers are set to consider a new law requiring children’s sections in stores to be “gender neutral”. This is reported by the Politico edition.

Under the bill, major retailers that sell children’s clothing and toys in California will be required to set aside retail space to sell items suitable for both boys and girls.

“Stores will be able to sell the same goods as now if they have special areas where shoppers can find all toys or clothes, regardless of gender marketing”, – the newspaper writes.

The authors of the law insist that the separate display of goods for boys and girls “imposes the opinion that their use by the opposite sex is inappropriate”.
