Ukrainian Ambassador to U.S. urges United States to tighten sanctions against Russia

Kiev expects from Washington to strengthen sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation, help with the NATO Membership Action Plan, as well as help to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, said Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova.

“The main priority of our foreign policy is the establishment of peace in the Donbass and the return of the Crimea. What kind of support do we expect from the new US administration to achieve these goals?” – asked the journalist.

“First of all, this is, of course, maximum pressure and toughening of sanctions by the United States and our European partners, so that the cost of aggression against Ukraine for Russia not only does not decrease, but increases all the time until the aggressor changes its behavior”, – she said.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree appointing the country’s ex-finance minister Markarova as ambassador to the United States on February 25.
