Ex-head of Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine says NATO fears “military attack” from Russia

Former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine Mykola Malomuzh commented on the statement of the Estonian Defense Ministry on the possible implementation of a “military operation” by Russia against Ukraine and the Baltic countries.

Earlier, the Foreign Intelligence Department of the Estonian Defense Ministry published a report stating that the Russian special services “are actively using cyberspace for influence in order to split Western societies, relations between states and NATO”.

Malomuzh believes that Moscow will not implement the scenario of a “military operation” against Ukraine or the Baltic states. However, he stressed that NATO does not exclude such a possibility and is actively working on the “model of countering Russia with NATO forces”.

“The new US President and the leaders of the EU countries at the Munich conference agreed on a position to strengthen the defensive component of NATO and the European Union. US President Biden said – in accordance with Article 5 of the NATO Charter, we will act on any local aggression, medium level or large-scale against the participating countries”, – said the former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.
