Protesters head for presidential residence in Yerevan

According to Sputnik, several thousand protesters in Yerevan moved to the residence of Armenian President Armen Sargsyan to urge him not to sign the petition of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to dismiss the head of the General Staff.

“We must demand that the president not succumb to Pashinyan’s blackmail, clearly formulate our objections and apply to the Constitutional Court to discuss the constitutionality of the prime minister’s petition”, – said the coordinator of the movement, Ishkhan Saghatelyan.

Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as “his political leadership is leading the state to a dangerous brink”. In response, the Prime Minister signed a decision to remove the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan from his post.
