Wintershall Dea head says Nord Stream 2 is needed

Mario Mehren, the head of Germany’s Wintershall Dea, hopes for the completion of Nord Stream 2 and is convinced of the necessity of the project

“I will start with the sanctions. Support for the project is not the subject of sanctions by the US administration. As for future sanctions, I will not speculate on this topic”, –  Meren said, commenting on the situation around Nord Stream 2″. – Regarding the completion of the infrastructure to ensure reliable and competitive gas supplies to Europe, I hope, I am even convinced, that the infrastructure will not only be put in place, but it is very necessary. We understand that our production in Europe is declining, we need to import more and more gas, otherwise we will face supply shortages.”
