EU sanctions list includes 55 individuals
The National Assembly (unicameral parliament) of Venezuela has requested the Government to declare persona non grata the EU ambassador to the Republic, Isabel Brillante Pedrosa, in response to the Community sanctions against Caracas. This was reported by EFE news agency on Tuesday.
“I raise both my hands for the European Union representative to be declared persona non grata and to review the conditions under which the EU mission is in Venezuela”, – the agency quoted Parliament Speaker Jorge Rodriguez as saying.
Earlier, the European Union extended sanctions against Venezuelan civil servants. Another 18 people were added to the blacklist, including the President of the Venezuelan National Electoral Council (CNE), Indira Alfonso, the Vice-President of the CNE, Leonardo Morales, the Chief of the Strategic Operational Command of the Venezuelan Armed Forces, Admiral Remigio Ceballos Ichazo, as well as members of the National Assembly and judges. Thus, a total of 55 individuals are on the EU sanctions list for Venezuela.
