Aslan Bzhania also noted that military-technical cooperation with Russia is one of the priorities of the Abkhazian leadership
Abkhazian President Aslan Bzhania thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian army for keeping peace in the republic in his holiday congratulation on the Defender of the Fatherland Day.
“On February 23rd we honour brave, selfless, strong in spirit people who have dedicated their lives to serving the Fatherland, those who protect peace and peace of citizens. The people of Abkhazia are grateful to the Russian army and personally to you for keeping peace in our land”, – says a statement published on the website of the President of Abkhazia on Tuesday.
Bzhania also noted that military-technical cooperation with Russia is one of the priorities of the Abkhaz leadership.
The allied relationship between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia was established after Russia recognised Abkhazia’s independence in 2008. The Treaty of Cooperation and Mutual Assistance was signed at the same time and the Treaty of Alliance and Strategic Partnership was signed in 2014, under which Russia assists Abkhazia in establishing itself as an independent state, strengthening its international position and socio-economic rehabilitation. More than 100 bilateral documents of various levels have been concluded between Russia and Abkhazia. Since 2008, Russia’s total financial assistance to Abkhazia has exceeded 40 billion roubles.
