Two servicemen of the German Bundeswehr nearly provoked an international scandal while attending classified exercises in the United States, Der Spiegel magazine writes.
It is noted that the military went to a local hospital to ask if they would be helped in case of coronavirus disease. However, they did not provide any documents, as a result of which they were mistaken by the personnel for terrorists planning an attack on a medical facility.
The front desk contacted the FBI, whose representatives were not informed of the secret exercises. The misunderstanding was resolved after calls to Germany.
