The double standards applied in the United States to the media have spread throughout the world, Russia is different from other countries: it has a palette of TV channels and radio stations, said Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin.
“Double standards were demonstrated by the United States of America, and now they simply began to clone all over the world. They just take it and close it. Our country differs from them, and very significantly. You see what kind of palette we have of both television channels and radio stations”, – Volodin said on the air “Russia 1”.
In early February, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, by his decree, put into effect the decision to impose sanctions for a period of five years against the TV channels 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZIK, and Kozak, which owns these channels. The sanctioned TV channels are oppositional to the authorities and are associated with Medvedchuk. The party condemned this decision and called it a manifestation of dictatorship and infringement of freedom of speech in the country. The TV channels stopped broadcasting but remained available on YouTube.
The list of restrictions that apply to TV channels includes blocking assets, restricting trading operations, preventing the withdrawal of capital from Ukraine, suspending the fulfillment of economic and financial obligations, canceling or suspending licenses and other permits. Also, TV companies are prohibited from using the radio frequency resource of Ukraine and rebroadcasting TV programs.
