Prosecution: Two participants in the Capitol assault committed an “act of domestic terrorism”

Ethan Nordin (left) and Dominic Pezzola (right), members of the far-right organisation Proud Boys, have been charged with a number of offences, including destroying or stealing government property, entering restricted areas and obstructing official hearings

The investigation alleges that Ethan Nordin helped a group storm the Capitol to remove barricades around the building. Dominic Pezzola, in turn, took a shield from one of the police officers and used it to break a Capitol window and get inside.

The investigation said their crimes amounted to “domestic terrorism”. This in itself is not a charge, but could affect the suspects’ prison terms if they are found guilty.

Nordin and Pezzola are currently being held without bail pending trial
