US imposes sanctions against 43 Belarusian citizens

The U.S. administration of President Joe Biden has imposed new sanctions against 43 citizens of Belarus. The sanctions list includes high-ranking officials for allegedly “undermining democracy” in the republic

“Today the US Department of State took action in compliance with Presidential Proclamation 8015 to impose visa restrictions against 43 Belarusian individuals responsible for undermining democracy in Belarus. This means that basically they are deprived of the right to enter the United States”, –  reads the statement of the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

It is also noted that under the sanctions there are “high-ranking officials from the justice sector, heads of law enforcement agencies, as well as ordinary personnel of the agencies,” “judges and prosecutors,” who participated in the sentencing of protesters.
