Expert: Nord Stream 2 will be completed in any case

Ukrainian energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky believes that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will be completed, while Ukraine will be able to count on transporting gas through its territory only after the settlement of disagreements with Russia, reports Glavred

“For Germany this is a key project, which in fact allows it to become the largest gas hub on the European continent. Therefore, naturally, its construction will be promoted further (not counting how much money is invested, how many companies are involved and how many jobs are created)”, –  Zemlyansky said.

He believes that after the end of the construction of Nord Stream-2, Ukraine “will fall out of the logic of the European gas market” and Kiev should not expect the United States to politically “cover” the country.
“Ukraine needs to be some kind of energy bridge, with which a settlement between Ukraine and Russia can perhaps begin. Just as at one time an international gas transport consortium could be such a bridge, which many have already forgotten about,” the expert concluded.
