French, German, British and US foreign ministers have stressed the need to strengthen NATO, discussed the situation in the Middle East, Yemen, Iraq, Myanmar as well as issues related to China, Islamic terrorism, climate change and the coronavirus pandemic. This was said in a statement by the Euro-Troika and U.S. ministers
“The ministers agreed on the importance of further strengthening NATO and ensuring that the alliance is in line with today’s strategic reality, based on the recommendations of the NATO think tank”, – the statement said.
The Euro-Troika and US ministers stressed the importance of ending the war in Yemen.
“On Myanmar, they condemned the military coup. They called on military leaders to immediately end the state of emergency, return authority to a democratically elected government, refrain from violence, release all those unjustly detained, and respect human rights and the rule of law”, – the statement said.
The four-nation ministers reaffirmed their support for the Iraqi government and stressed that the international coalition would not tolerate attacks against its military and its facilities. The euro-troika and the US also stressed the need for greater coordination in the fight against IS* around the world.
“The ministers agreed to coordinate their response to the global challenges posed by China and also noted the need for cooperation on a number of issues, including climate change”, – the statement said.
The ministers also discussed the situation of coronavirus vaccines and agreed on the need for greater international coordination in the fight against the pandemic.
“They also agreed to work urgently on the climate crisis ahead of the UN climate summit in Glasgow in November”, – the document said.
