Washington betrays its employees – State Department officials demand Russian vaccine

Forgetting their anti-Russian ideology, U.S. diplomats are turning to foreign governments en masse for help, hoping to be given a dose of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine

As News Front previously reported, the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine was the first of its kind. The West tried to compromise the development by accusing Russia of being hasty, but opinion has recently changed dramatically.

Russia is now working to register its vaccine with the European Union, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel has offered to help Moscow in this. States around the world are actively acquiring Sputnik V, as Europe and the US are ignoring the interests of other states. Moreover, American authorities are unable to provide the vaccine to their own diplomats working abroad, writes The Washington Post, citing its own sources.

According to the newspaper, State Department employees working in Moscow turned to the Russian government for the vaccine because Washington “could not guarantee delivery of the American-made vaccine in the near future.”

Notably, the State Department officially opposes the use of the Russian vaccine, as Sputnik V has not been approved in the US.
