During a video conference of NATO defense ministers, head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin said that the Alliance needs to maintain spending on defense to meet the challenges posed by Russia
“He listed a number of threats and challenges facing the alliance, including Russia’s destabilising behaviour, a rising China, terrorism, and global challenges such as coronavirus and climate change. Secretary Austin noted that defense spending is essential to ensure that the forces and capabilities needed to respond to Russia and other challenges facing NATO are readily available”, – the Pentagon press office reported.
Austin also stressed that the U.S. intends to intensify and develop relations with the North Atlantic Alliance.
