As the president of Belarus said, one should not be afraid of sanctions
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus and Russia can cope with these challenges and fully provide themselves with everything they need in spite of any sanctions. He expressed this opinion on Thursday during a meeting with State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota.
“Everyone is trying to scare Russia, just like us, with some sanctions. I am from the Soviet times. I know what the state plan was, how it was planned. I figured it out, my God, why are we trembling and hovering. We can calculate everything and provide for ourselves”, – said Lukashenko, BelTA informs.
According to him, only some areas may be an exception. “So, we can produce those parts in Belarus and Russia within 3-5 years. We have such a scientific potential, and if we do that, Ukraine would join us,” noted Lukashenko. – To say nothing of Kazakhstan and other republics which are not far from us. That’s why it’s the main issue – to come to an agreement and provide our Fatherland with everything it needs.
Lukashenko expressed hope that after the All-Belarus People’s Congress, where the most important issues for the country were discussed, Minsk’s position was heard in Russia and in the West.
“Both I in my report and our speakers were quite frank, they said what they thought. Therefore, all questions were answered. I think our Russia has heard us, as well as the West. And so on and so forth. It is very important for the further development of our cooperation within the Union of Belarus and Russia”, – Lukashenko said.
The VI All-Belarus People’s Assembly was held in Minsk on 11-12 February. The main provisions of the Programme for socio-economic development of Belarus for 2021-2025 and the areas of socio-political development of the country were discussed at the forum. The Assembly also approved the referendum on the constitutional reform. On the first day of the forum, Lukashenka delivered an address in which he touched upon a wide range of domestic policy issues and also recalled Minsk’s position on many international topics.
