Belarus may be barred from participating in the Eurovision Song Contest

Member of European Parliament from the Swedish Liberal Party, Karin Karlsbro, proposed to ban Belarus from participating in the international singing competition “Eurovision”

Carlsbrough declared unacceptable cooperation between the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the National State TV and Radio Company of the Republic, as its head, Ivan Eismont, is under sanctions by the European Union. She intends to submit a letter to the EBU, which she is now collecting signatures for.

The new EU sanctions against Belarus were adopted in mid-December last year. The list included 29 officials, including Ivan Eismont, who heads the National TV and Radio Company.
