Its efficiency is only 63%.
As reported by Censor.NET with reference to UNIAN, the head of the World Health Organization Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus said during a briefing that WHO approved the vaccine of the Swedish-British company AstraZeneca for emergency use. In the course of research, it was found that the effectiveness of the vaccine is 63.09%. The organization noted that it is suitable for poorer countries due to simple storage requirements.
“WHO today approved two vaccine options for AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford for emergency use. We now have everything we need to quickly distribute vaccines. But we still need to increase production”, – said Gebreyesus.
According to him, in this way, WHO allowed the distribution of this drug around the world through the global COVAX mechanism, created to ensure the availability of vaccines.
