The country’s authorities promised to deliver at least 3 different vaccines by February 15 and start distributing them among the population. Once again, the deadlines were disrupted.
As reported by News Front, earlier Kiev, for political reasons, refused the opportunity to purchase the Russian drug Sputnik V, banning its purchase at the legislative level.
The authorities were hoping for COVAX, a mechanism designed to provide vaccines to poor countries. Although the goal of COVAX is to vaccinate up to 30% of people in poor countries, even at this modest scale, problems arise. For example, in Ukraine it was recognized that the supply of Pfizer had been disrupted due to bureaucratic delays.
It is noteworthy that the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxim Stepanov promised to begin vaccination with 3-4 drugs from different manufacturers after February 15. Later, his promises were reduced to only one vaccine AstraZeneca, and the introduction of the drug, apparently, is delayed.
“Vaccination has already started even on Easter Island, but not in Ukraine. We are on a par with African countries, which, like us, are not sold the vaccine. This is the most striking result of the work of Zelensky and his incompetent government. The President personally refused a vaccine with an efficiency of 95%, which could be produced on the territory of Ukraine, because it is Russian. And now the entire civilized world has begun vaccination, including by the same Sputnik V, and we are left with nothing, at a broken trough”, – political scientist Igor Valsky commented on the situation.
