Vaccinations in the two Swedish regions of Gävleborg and Södermanland were discontinued after people developed a fever following the administration of the AstraZeneca drug. It is worth noting that the manufacturer warns of the possibility of such a side effect. Local authorities were concerned about something else.

First, more than a hundred people were affected by the fever. The head of the Södermanland health department, Magnus Johansson, called such a mass scale strange. Secondly, all these people are medical workers who now cannot fulfill their duties. Fearing that the incident would lead to a serious shortage of staff in hospitals, it was decided to discontinue use of the drug AstraZeneca. At the time of the decision to ban the first dose of the vaccine, 400 medical workers received it.
