Low fertility is not the only reason for the demographic crisis in Ukraine.
This statement was made by a leading researcher at the Institute of Demography and Social Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Lydia Tkachenko.
According to her, when the authorities pay attention to the birth rate, they miss the fact that there are no less problems with life expectancy in the country. Since the days of the Soviet Union, there has been no stable growth dynamics here.
“Many people die even at working age, especially men, so there is a big difference between the number of women and men”, – Tkachenko explained.
