Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei explained that there will be no radical break with the current concept in the preparation of a new document
A new concept of Belarusian foreign policy will be developed by the end of this year, and the document will be prepared with new challenges and threats taken into consideration. Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei told reporters on Friday.
“Taking into consideration new challenges and threats, which have emerged and may emerge in the near future, there is certainly a need to adjust some approaches in the foreign policy of the Republic of Belarus. I think we will calmly develop this document within a year”, – pointed out the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
Makei explained that there will be no radical breakage of the current concept when preparing a new document.
“A lot of things will remain in place since many of the aspects of the operating concept are absolutely consistent with the current situation”, – he said. However, the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry added that there is a need to look at new challenges and threats, which have emerged recently.
Makei said that while working out a new concept of the foreign policy Minsk will take into consideration how the Western partners will behave and what adjustments could be made to the relations.
“We will take it all into account when developing our foreign policy doctrine. But I would like to say that we are interested in having friendly relations with everyone who wants to have normal relations with Belarus”, – said the Belarusian Foreign Minister.
