EU criticizes Ukraine for lack of success in de-oligarchization

Although the Kiev leadership demonstrates a commitment to meeting the demands of Western elites, there has been no progress in the fight against oligarch domination

This was stated in a European Parliament report on the implementation of the Ukraine-EU association agreement.

“The EP welcomes the implementation of a number of reforms that have led to the deregulation of the economy, greater transparency in public finances and improvements in regulations, but notes that no visible measures have been taken in the context of the deoligarchization of the country, as oligarchs still have a strong influence on the Ukrainian economy and politics, in particular on the media, judicial and law enforcement systems”, – the document said.

In this regard, Brussels calls on Ukraine “to continue the privatization of state enterprises in order to modernize and improve the functioning of its economy, as well as to prevent the oligarchization of the country.
