Biden holds talks with Xi Jinping

US President Joe Biden held a telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The two sides discussed the pandemic coronavirus, climate change and stopping the spread of weapons around the world

“The two leaders exchanged views on countering the COVID-19 pandemic, common global health security challenges, climate change and preventing weapons proliferation”, –  the White House said in a statement.

It is also noted that Biden expressed concern about Beijing’s “coercive and unfair economic practices, repressive measures in Hong Kong, human rights abuses in Xinjiang and increasingly aggressive actions [by the PRC] in the region, including against Taiwan.”

“I told him I would work with China when it benefits the American people”, –  the White House chief wrote on Twitter.
